Yes, we both started as kind of moderate Republicans 20 years ago and moved leftward. I migrated a few years before DH did, but he bailed on the Republicans with the first Trump election, so we never had to deal with that conflict. He is now further to the left on many stances than I am.

I do. We've grown together over the decades. I started out as a sort of country club Republican. She was kind of a standard issue college liberal.
I flipped pretty solidly to the left on a lot of social issues and mellowed on my economic stances as I came to understand the economy and its costs & benefits were more nuanced than I had believed as a younger man. Meanwhile, she shifted a bit to the right on economic issues as we acquired some money of our own. Her social stances are pretty much as left as they ever were.
It helps that, regardless of our particular political positions, we both agree that the Republicans have snowballed into a bigger and bigger shit show as the years have passed.
