Not always the ideal situation, but can you find something in another city/state? You have to go to where the jobs are, and sometimes, this ends up being a blessing in disguise.
It's definitely scary to be jobless (been laid off twice), but hold on. Do what you need to do to survive.
Move in with family (I did that once); downsize; move to a diff city/state. Again, not ideal, but you gotta do what you gotta do to survive.
Hang in there.
