We’ve seen the advice to try out for multiple teams. How necessary is it to go to multiple open gyms and tryouts? Do kids (girls) often get offers if only attending one tryout? Nearly all seem to overlap same days and times.

1. If it's not updated, then just go by 2024-25 season.

2. Each teams can have 2 exceptions. For most girls, it's probably best to stay within your zip code. The only reason why you should go out of the zip code is you don't like the players/coaches or just want more playing time/better team.

3. Open gym is fun, but it's not necessary. It's a great way to knock off some rust and have casual conversation with the coach and other parents.

4. Tryouts: Each teams conduct 2-3 tryouts and a lot of time will conflict will nearby teams. I don't think it's a coincidences, coaches want you to commit. If your kid is really good, you can go any select team and get an offer/exceptions before you go to bed.

New to select basketball but kid wants to try out for this winter. Lots of questions, help this new bball parent out please!

Is there a 25-26 zip code list somewhere? All I see is 24-25 (and older)

Is it worth trying out if out of zip code? / are zip code exceptions really made? Many of the teams for my zip don’t make sense at all given location of open gyms . And multiple teams for age group in zip code don’t have coaches yet so no open gym or tryouts set yet - did a team like that last year that ended up being an administrative mess and not much skill advancement, with coach juggling. Out of zip code teams have much better practice locations for us…

Still learning how this works, appreciate the help understanding!
