Our pediatrician prescribes ours - we use adderall - tried methylphenadate first and the insomnia etc wasn't quite right.

Once we started adderall, it was clear through behavior that it was the right mix. It wasn't just the insomnia that improved, it was also a better med mix b/c we saw more behavior relief.

Forgetting it on vacation for a week let us know with no question just how helpful it was

I have two kids with SN who see the same out of network psychiatrist. The oldest has complex needs and it's been difficult to find the mix of meds that work. We see the psychiatrist frequently and absolutely need his expertise.

The youngest "only" has ADHD. It took a bit of trial and error to find the right stimulant and we've increased the dose as he's gotten older, but it's been pretty much smooth sailing. I love our psychiatrist and trust his way more than our pediatrician, but he's expensive.

For simple adhd, have you had good experiences with a general pediatrician prescribing?
