They have the wrong grad year on her record. The system doesn’t know she’s a senior.

If DI is important to this school, it’s really up to you to be more proactive. Visiting is great, but have you reached out to an admissions officer? Are you following the school’s socials? Have you signed up for any online admissions events the school is offering? Do they offer the opportunity to interview? I can’t imagine sitting back and feeling butthurt because a school isn’t communicating enough with my kid. Keep in mind that kids who are at the higher end of the applicant pool but don’t show enough interest to a DI school are exactly the ones who get the yield protection denials.

I worked in admissions and though I have no idea of this in the case for you, we often did mailers/emails very specifically. So the invite could have gone to seniors who haven’t been on campus.
I would find out the regional rep, if that exists. Make up a reason to email and try to demonstrate interest that way, too.

The simplest possible answer is that the school's marketing department changed the geographic purchasing criteria on their college board mailing list.

Another possibility might be that based on her visit timing, they coded her as a senior last year and her name got purged.

My son goes to a state flagship main campus. We toured a branch campus the summer before his senior year year. He never applied to the branch campus. This summer, he received a birthday e-mail out of the blue from the branch campus. 2 years after his tour.

Mailing lists are often mismanaged/mishandled. That is why they are hard to unsubscribe from.

Just get back on the mailing list and don't take it personally. Somebody could have accidentally deleted 50 records and they'd never know.

You can call admissions and ask but I would just sign up for things like webinars, click on links, etc.

She has not yet submitted her application.

As a junior, she got email and other communications from this college. She toured in early summer. Since her tour, she has not heard a single thing. No more emails, no mail. She saw belatedly on their Insta that they had an admissions event in our area that she would have liked to attend, but she didn't get any communications from them about it.

We have a full recycling bin of mail from colleges she doesn't care about. I know it's weird to complain about *not* getting mail or email from a college. But it's making her feel unwanted by a college that seems like an excellent fit. I know this seems silly, but any theories about why this would happen?

She toured. That's important since they consider demonstrated interest. But, honestly, email is much more prevalent than USPS.

Did she add the school to her Common App list? That's also important. Once she's applied, they'll send plenty of information via email.

I wouldn't read much into it.

DI is about you demonstrate interest to the school, not the school demonstrate interest on you.

Why you didn't receive the email? Thousands of possible reasons. Not important. No one care. Have a thick skin!

If you really like the school, register other events such as online one-on-one interview.

The school is probably sending out mass emails or mail to everyone at the same time, regardless of whether or not your kid visited the school. Your kid did not get any new mail or emails from them because their marketing people probably did not send them out to anyone or anyone in your area.

Question for you: why would you interpret mass mail/email as a sign that your child is wanted or unwanted by the college? Don't you think they're just trying to get as many applications as possible in order to get more application fees and/or decrease the percentage of kids they ultimately accept?

Maybe the emails went to spam? Many went to spam for my kids.
