Sharing OP’s sentiment but for girls. Mine is 8 years old - very polite, no emotional regulation problems etc. I got lucky I know it. her friends behavior is horrible. We had a few girls over at our house for a group play date - there was running, jumping on the couch, jumping on each other, wrestling (I had to interfere a few times as kids very screaming). They did not listen. I asked once, twice, 10th and 20th times and No freaking reaction. I had to raise my voice at some point as they were uncontrollable. 8 years old. Girls. UMC and super sweet parents. Do people not teach kids to be well mannered anymore?!

I don't really get why you're lumping all those things into one category of jerk kids. I've met many who enjoy some or all of those things and are nice and have good table manners. Your assumptions are doing your kid q disservice.

You have to look for the less popular kids and be friends with their parents. Pick different activities. Work on it at home.

Yes you should homeschool or send to private if you want manners, but your kid will be a bruh.

One of the kindest boys I know says skibbidy all the time. He is respectful, says please and thank you many times during his visit, and tries to include other children in group activities.

I have no doubt your DS encounters some jerks, but some of the things on your list are more important than others.

Boy Scouts tend to be a nice bunch.

I think you ask for/require code switching and demonstrated competence in formal behavior without being so judgmental about how they are with their peers.

My son is friends with the non bruh type. They are a mixture of super smart kids and kids who struggle with learning disabilities.

During recess the boys who tended to be aggressive and disrespectful played sports games. My son and his friends played made up games. They were a kind sensitive group of boys and they were ridiculed by the boys who were not kind or sensitive.

Both groups love to play video games. It’s not phones, tables, games, etc that are the problem if used in moderation , it’s the kid who is using them in a negative way based on who he is. I’m sure there are plenty of kids at your child’s school who are not disrespectful and rude.

You are realistic. Keep searching. Also, invite kids over one at a time - they're worse behaved in a group.

DS8 is no angel, but it would be great to have a peer group that isn’t a “bruh skibiddy” disrespectful jerk pack. DH says I’m being unrealistic (no video games, no phones, no tablets, no motorized bikes or scooters, expecting basic table manners and respectful language, respecting adults) and that I should homeschool.
