My husband had bad GERD and an ulcerated esophagus. He also has a hiatal hernia and found walking made his symptoms worse. He was on heavy PPI and Prilosec for 4 months to calm down the esophagus (worked per second endoscopy) and tapered off half the PPI. That is a drag, rebound.

Do you take Famotidine? It’s the only alternative for me to taking PPIs like Prilosec but not as effective, AND it stopped working well for me even twice daily on prescription dose (40 mg I think).

I take it twice daily, before breakfast dnd dinner but i can only eat within 3-4 hours of taking dose otherwise breakthrough heartburn. So I’ve stopped eating lunch.

And yes coffee sometimes causes mild heartburn even within the 3 hour window, but I’m addicted to caffeine and need it to function.

You’re the second person to mention new food sensitivities. It’s possible. Ugh, I have so much travel planned this year with little control over meals.

Thanks!

No coffee, but about 2-4 cups of black tea a day. I’ll try cutting it out.

Thanks!

Thanks. I am in menopause and on hormones. Maybe that’s superpowering this bout.

Ironically, this is the lowest my stress has been in years. However, I am working every weekend due to a situation that I think will end this month.

In the past, that has worked for less severe flares. This one is much more intense. I’m calling my gastroenterologist on Monday, but his availability is not great for GERD.

Have you tried taking Prilosec for a couple of weeks?

Just walking 4-5x a week for 90 min to 2 hours. I do not wear compression leggings.

Just acid is creeping up. 24/7.

What kind of movement? Crunches? Hanging upside down? Do you have a hiatal hernia? Do you reflux food or just acid?

I gained 3 lbs over the summer which pushed me from the upper end of normal weight into overweight. I’ve worked for the past month and shed 2 lbs. However, I am now having a huge flare up of GERD.

It’s kicking my butt. And I don’t know why this happening. I didn’t even change the foods I eat. I just eat less and move more.

Please share if you’ve experienced the same.
