Trinity's location was a no-go for our family. There's a fence all around campus and it seems like an area where you'd want to be extra aware of your surroundings, stick to well-lit, busier streets around there, and where it would definitely be wise to use the campus escort service at night...

DS is applying to UVM and has many friends who attend and love it. For a state school, the size is reasonable and it seems like a place with happy, down to earth kids.

I’ve got a first year at UVM and so far he’s having a great experience. I don’t have any knowledge of Trinity to compare. But it campus has been lively and friendly with kids coming from all over (I think only 30% are instate or something like that.) My kid coming from small public high school ( grad class 120) and so far size seems ok.

If money is not the prime consideration, Trinity is a much better school and undergrad experience.

Looking for a decent school in New England with nice kids, non competitive clubs to join, and good academics. Have the stats to get in both schools and is full pay. Undecided on major at this point, but definitely not STEM. UVM feels a bit big but Trinity feels small and perhaps filled with a lot of prep school kids from NY.

Which is better the better experience? I know UVM is outdoorsy and Trinity right in Hartford. Kid is middle of the road and doesn’t lean one way or the other.
