Believe it or not but I am flying in to DC just for nostalgia and I want to recreate my life when I lived there 15 years ago!
The B&N has only recently been reborn at the same spot (it was a Nike Store in between) and last I checked they did not put cafe into the new store.
The old D&D space is now Osteria Mozza, and very in Italian place.
Agree with the recommendations for yellow. It is excellent but tiny place with limited seating.

Probably the best casual place in Gtown now. But be prepared for a line.
Yellow is the best. If you go on a weekday morning the lines will be totally manageable.

Sit downs are fine if you know what you want, order it fast, and ask for a check the minute the food arrives.
They will hardly come and check on you at sit downs once you have paid already. That's my trick if I want to be left alone for 40-50 minute meal.
