How do you get through 6 interviews and still not know the role or the priorities? Did you ask questions during your 6 interviews? Is there a Job Description posted online? Have you asked the recruiter for more details???

At the VP level you are expected to work well as a team with cross functional peers at your level. Basically the whole executive team is your boss.

Is it a loop interview? I’ve been on interviews where the hiring manager is a gatekeeper at the end and decides if they should send you on 1-2 more interviews or not based on feedback from the others throughout the day, thereby completing the loop. Way back in the day I had some loops I never quite closed at Microsoft that ended with the hiring manager sending me off into the sunset mid-afternoon.

If they work very closely with the VP’s vertical, they might “belong” to you/your big boss, so the interview could also be to answer the question of whether they think you would be good at working with them to build out your future team.

Honestly, could be anything at that level.

An in house recruiter for a fortune 500 competitor reached out to me on linkedin for a VP role. I have done 6 1:1 interviews and the hiring manager is the last one. This is very weird as I feel typically the hiring mgr should be the first interview. I still do not have a good idea of the role or the priorities.

The interview is set for tomorrow and I was surprised that it was cut to 30 mins from 45 mins saying the hiring mgr had a conflict. It's virtual only.

Here are my questions:
1. Is this common? (I got promoted from my company and have not been on the interview trail for decades now)
2. What can I expect? Any tips?

Ty!
