Checked video. Metal screwcap lid. Didn't look corroded at all. Doubt unless it was buried in a dry spot at a beach.

I'd like to see that bottle.

Seriously doubt it lasted that long with a cork in it exposed to the sun and salt water for decades. It would have rotted and water gotten in it.

Thanks for posting the story OP. I was the same age in 1976 and also took oceanography. Brings back so many memories.
