The comfortable mid-thigh ones are the flowy linen kind. I like the ones from Athleta. Even the 4" ones don't look that short if they are high waisted, so I bet she could get away with those if she's not super tall.

Aritzia Effortless shorts if you can find them on sale.

This is what I would do too. The long, loose jorts are trendy (as opposed to tight bermudas).

My kids at a dress code school that just changed from mid thigh to 2 inches above the knee just plan on wearing loose pants on days when they don't have to wear their skirts. There are light, summerweight jeans and gauze pants that look super cute on teens. It's just too hard to find shorts.

I had this issue with my daughter. She ended up choosing to just not wear shorts rather than pick one of the longer styles (all of which she hated).

You want the athletic ones with the high waist, not the hiking ones with the drawstring (which are fine but not cute).

Sorry, that's SaNtiny brand.

Athleta or lululemon skorts. No teen will want to wear shorts mid-thigh, and no mid-thigh styles will be what she wants. Look on poshmark or get dupes. I mean the longer cut at lululemon is 4.5”, so I think she’ll struggle w/ cuts she likes being long enough.

I have one of those too! Women's athletic shorts are generally just...short

They changed the rules from last year. I am trying to find examples of shorts she could get. We went to a few stores today also, and there were no shorts approaching mid-thigh.

Otherwise, the school should just ban shorts, but that is a different issue.

You've sort of boxed yourself into a corner there, OP.

Either you find shorts on Poshmark which fit your specs, or you tell your kid to wear her short shorts on the WE.

- sitting here wearing short shorts I bought on Poshmark.

My daughter got dress-coded at her smallish, local private high school. She was wearing shorts that were shorter than mid-thigh (which she wore last year too without issue, and they were longer than what I've seen many other girls there wear...but whatever).

Any suggestions for mid-thigh shorts that a teen will actually wear/have a modicum of style? She really wants to wear shorts, even though we might just have a few more weeks of warm enough weather...and she will want them for the spring also.

I looked online and all the women's shorts seem to be 5 or 6 inches, which are not long enough...and no teen girl would be caught dead in the one or two 'bermuda' length shorts that came up. Appreciate any suggestions/links. (Also I'm not spending $50 on a pair of shorts, but I wasn't seeing anything regardless of price point).
