We literally moved to VA twenty years ago but were always so busy with kid activities that we tended not to go anywhere unless it was for a sports tournament, college visit, etc. Whole swathes of this beautiful state that we have not seen and enjoyed. (I have always wanted to go to "Walton's Mountain" and I'm really excited about the Better Homes and Gardens idea house which is somehwere near Charlottesville this year.)
My kids and I have been working on visiting the state parks. They’ll send you a pin after you visit 5, 10, 20, etc. We visited our 10th park this summer.
Aside from northern Virginia, I’ve visited Richmond, Williamsburg area, Newport News/Hampton Roads/Norfolk area, Natural Bridge, Charlottesville, Shenandoah & surrounding area, and various places along I-81, all the way down to Bristol. I’ve lived in VA for about 10 years but in the general DC are for about 20 years.
