I'd wait a bit to see how the school responds. If they're helpful, see how it plays out. If they're not, I'd personally pull the kid if the bullying continues and there is school refusal. The environment needs to change for the kid in that circumstance. At the same time, I'd try to connect with the nice kids after school/weekends.

A couple classes and the hallway. I’m meeting with guidance and the principal this week

I say talk to the school and get the bullying situation under control and give him some time to really try it. If either the bullying doesn’t stop or he otherwise doesn’t like it, then you homeschool. Pulling him now will wreck his agency/confidence

My ds hs 13. He was out of district in a very small special needs private for the past two years. He wanted to be in district this year to reconnect with nice local kids and have more social opportunities.

He’s been in school for one week. He has reconnected with local kids who are nice. Unfortunately, he’s also caught the attention of a group of about 7 boys who are bullying him. I know who these boys are. They aren’t the popular boys. They are more of the juvenile delinquent clique.

The school has been working with us. He has an IEP. However, this morning, school refusal started up and he didn’t go in. This hasn’t been an issue since he was last in public 3 years ago. I’m not sure what to do. I foresee this getting messy.

It was his choice to be in district to connect with local kids. He will lose that opportunity if these bullies force him out. I’m just looking for any advice and other perspectives. Thanks
