Pp again - my kid has 3 back accounts. One for spending, one for savings, and one for long term savings. He also carries his debit card most days.

My kid’s debit card is linked to Apple Pay. I transfer to him and then send to Apple Pay on my phone. I don’t want my debit card linked.

If he needs or wants more money for something, I give him my credit card for the purchase.

I set up checking accounts for them when they were 13ish. They have debit cards for those accounts. Also have access to a shared cc for emergencies.

Never ever use a debit card. Especially now that the Trump/DOGE debacle and the elimination of consumer protection agencies.

Any credit card with $500 limit is fine. You can call a cc company and have limits lowered.

They’re all authorized users on our credit cards. They all have a physical card. The older two have debit cards liked to their accounts as well.

We used to give our kids Apple Cash but DH’s debit card got compromised and Apple won’t let us update or add a new card.

Currently, our kids have our AMEX on their Apple Pay and my 16yo has a physical credit card but we have no limits or budgets.

I know some parents use different allowance apps or budgeting accounts that have more parent controls.

I liked how I could give my kid $20 or $50 on Apple Cash. It is really annoying how we can’t update this.
