he had ADHD dx but autism was ruled out when little.

You say “thanks for sharing” and let them be an adult and don’t do anything else.

My DS who is a high schooler also took one of these and is convinced he’s on the spectrum. He’s been fully evaluated multiple times. He has ADHD, anxiety and a touch of OCD, not is not on the spectrum. Frankly, I’ve wondered if he is and suspect he might just meet the cutoff.

People who are using the online tools obviously think there’s something different about themselves and are searching for answers. I would listen to him and validate his feelings. Perhaps offer to pay for a neuropsych evaluation if he wants one.

My kid did one of those, same result. I actually think it’s probably true, so we talked about it, including what it might mean, or not. I said I’d support going for a professional evaluation whenever they were ready.

Those quizzes aren’t exact.

How exactly did you find out “by chance”?

Does he think he has autism? At this age, he should have a gut feeling on it.

Have you asked him how he's feeling/doing? He's likely having social or relationship difficulties that is making him think he might be autistic. Talk to him!

i understand that. the quiz most likely says the same thing too. but whatever prompted him to take a test is what i'm wondering about. he texts every few days all sounded routine/normal but no way to know for sure of course.

I think you roll with the kid with where they are.

And don't get overly concerned with online quizzes. Human beings are amazingly different.
