It is many heads from the same beast and speaks to current culture. Eroding patients’ trust in the health care system will only make the issues you say you care about worse.

It's one thing to joke about something at work, it's another to shame people publicly on the web for something that is an artifact of the lube left over from a medical exam.

It's almost like some of these medical office staff aren't too bright.

Yes it is bad. They are health care professionals acting like bodily fluids are some kind of inappropriate thing that they have to deal with. If I had gone to that urgent care I would feel really embarrassed and probably would make all sorts of medical care more embarrassing.

I don't really understand the outrage either. There were no HIPAA violations. Its not like this embarrassed someone in particular.

I think it's crass and suggests that normal bodily fluids aren't just that. Which, as an owner of any practice, I would be extremely upset and likely fire those involved. Patients should never feel as if they are judged by staff for getting care.

Have you guys been following this situation that occurred at an Urgent Care facility in Santa Barbara?

An employee posted a Tik Tok video about “stains” left behind by patients with multiple staff participating, making goofy faces and acting like morons. Supposedly they have since been fired:

“Numerous edhat readers sent in posts on Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit that show healthcare workers posing in front of what appears to be bodily fluids left behind in an exam room.”

“Online commenters stated they were able to trace the social media account and its public postings to an employee of Sansum Clinic who worked at the Urgent Care facility at 215 Pesetas Lane in Santa Barbara. Sansum Clinic is now overseen by Sutter Health and this facility is now known as “Sutter Health Pesetas Urgent Care.”

“The accounts have since been deleted and the posts removed, but not before local residents were able to take screenshots and share them with edhat, as well as repost them online. The TikTok video has been reposted here.“
