PP. I never washed kid shoes in a machine. We kept worn and bad pairs around to use as mud shoes.

I like See Kai Run but I am opposed to toddler shoes that can't be machine washed so I wouldn't get that particular pair.

I use to buy Bobux Paddingtons for my little kids so we had one sneaker boot that could work in rain, light snow and just for play. They are awesome.

Vans MTE has been my go-to for toddlers, but they get narrower as the shoes get bigger, so be mindful of that if your kid has wide feet. I'd just get a mid-top with leather outer that's naturally water repellent. Ugg, Naturino, Froddo make styles like that.

I raised two boys. They wore waterproof brown school shoes in fall and winter. They also had rain boots and snow boots. It worked out.

We had StrideRite and Carters (from Target) and later some expensive Italian brand from Nordstrom (found 3 pairs on the sale rack).

I looked at See Kai Run shoes but never bought. I believe those boots linked above would work because they are made of materials found in the different brand shoes that I picked.

My husband and younger teen wear waterproof Keen hiking shoes now. If they make those for toddler boys, I would recommend them.

My younger son had Timberland boots for a year in elementary. These were a nuisance because they were not allowed in gym class. Also the laces wore out quickly. So we gave up on that style of ankle boot.

If your budget allows, plae thandis are pretty great. I’m not suggesting all kids need expensive boots. I’m just saying if the price is okay, it’s a great boot.

The past few years I’ve gotten high top boots from Target like this: https://www.target.com/p/toddler-aidan-sneaker-boots-cat-38-jack-8482-cognac-10t-zipper-hook-and-loop-padded-collar/-/A-94299927

Stride Rite and Ten Little have similar styles.

I feel like I’m looking for something like this, but there’s no reviews so don’t know how good this style is. It claims to be good for the playground, which is what I want. Good for wet grass, playground, not too heavy or burdensome for my tripping-prone child.

Anyone have these?

What are some good fall shoes for a 4-year-old boy? I generally prefer sneakers for stability but think we should get something for somewhat colder, wetter days. Maybe some sneaker-like boots. He has a high instep if that impacts recommendations. Any brands/styles you like?
