Based on numbers published, they roughly invite 40 kids of 1 gender & age to attend these initial U14/U15 Talent ID Centers.
We are at a larger pathway club and the DOC pushed out guidelines what they are looking for. Let's just say, your kid has to be U-13 to U-15, on the Top Team, Dominating their Position and be a Well Liked Player to be Nominated.

People should be aware of what being named to one of these talent id centers means at u14/15, and what it does not mean.
It means you play at a large club with ECNL/MLSN/GA
It means you are good relative to the other players on the club team.
It means you have a good attitude, work hard, and are one of the coach's favorites.
It means your club wants you to stay with the team but you are now more marketable to go elsewhere.
It does not mean you are better than the other players on the club team.
It does not mean you will get the same nomination next time.
It does not mean college coaches will be contacting you in 8th/9th grade.
It does not mean you are destined for D1 schools with scholarships.
Of the 40 or so local players attending these camps, only tiny handful will advance to the next round. The ones who can totally dominate at the camp. You'll know who they are right away.
I could have typed the same thing so thanks for warning the unsuspecting parents.

It means you play at a large club with ECNL/MLSN/GA - not necessarily true. my daughter has been to an IDC and does not play for a large club but is affiliated with one of the top leagues
It means you are good relative to the other players on the club team.
It means you have a good attitude, work hard, and are one of the coach's favorites.
It means your club wants you to stay with the team but you are now more marketable to go elsewhere.
It does not mean you are better than the other players on the club team. - true
It does not mean you will get the same nomination next time. - true
It does not mean college coaches will be contacting you in 8th/9th grade. - true![]()
It does not mean you are destined for D1 schools with scholarships. - so true
Of the 40 or so local players attending these camps, only tiny handful will advance to the next round. The ones who can totally dominate at the camp. You'll know who they are right away. - amazingly accurate

These selections are mostly based on your coach/club recommendations. Unless the player is so obviously superior to everyone else on the field. Differences among good players on a team at this age are small. It basically comes down to which players the club has promised or chooses to promote.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:For U14s it starts with coach's recommendation and then it moves to scouts watching games. Afterwards club continues to recommend but selections are made from scouts' recommendations.
Would this has started last year or would it be more recent?
