I've sent people groceries from various grocery stores as well as dinner from Whole Foods if you know she will be home/know where she will be. With the groceries, I try to include easy foods (frozen lasagna), snacks, and paper plates.

Is her mom still around?

My experience is when a parent dies and the other parent is still around you tend to initially focus all your energy into helping the surviving parent. While your grieving you are concerned with taking care of the day to day of helping mom. I cooked a ton of food actually and cleaned her house.

When it's the last parent and there is anyone to take care of you sometimes don't know what to with yourself. There are a lot of logistics if you're the executor of the will, lots of calls to make to close accounts.

I think a gift card for Door Dash/Uber Eats/whatever food delivery she uses is the best idea because it gives variety.

This is sweet. I comment you.

When your parent passes it is very nice to know people are thinking of you because it really is earth shattering.

I'd recommend Doordash or Subway.

Thank you all. I am sending bereavement card by mail and Uber eats by text. Hope the text works. It is only showing me email options but I need to dig in more. I will make sure to stay in touch with her.

I would make sure to check in on her regularly over the next few months. The most alone times are when people stop checking in after the funeral.

Send her a sympathy card with a Visa gift card inside and say something about "please use this to make sure you nourish your and your family's stomach; mourning can take a lot of energy."

Most gift cards for food that I can think I can be sent online as an “e-gift card”: door dash, almost every chain restaurant and grocery chain, lots of local restaurants and grocery stores. Or you could send a Visa e-gift card with a note that says you thought they might like to use it for meals so they don’t have to worry about food right now or something like that.

Look on google maps and then call up a restaurant near where they live.

My friend's father passed away yesterday. She is in a different state than where I am. So, meeting is not an option. A group of us friends together have sent her flowers. I want to also give her a gift card so she can get meals for herself and her family. Can i do that and what gift card can I send online? Thank you!
