How are the seats for comfort in the HRV? I am very interested in the HRV but reviews say the seats are very stiff.

I need to test drive it but it isn't the same as someone who actually owns it.

We have the CX5 because it’s quite a bit smaller than the new CRV. With two teens, I’d probably get the CRV.

An HRV is a beefed up fit from Mexico. Cx5 better be better than that. Can’t believe it’s smaller?!

/some trim levels of Mazdas get worse gas mileage than CRVs.

As for embarassing ... until Feb. of this year, I had a 2017 CRV. I knew we would need another car for my college-age DD who was going to do a special program. I looked at the new CRVs, but they are 4 inches longer than the 2017-2022 version (and I didn't want to give up those 4 inches in my garage --- would make parking tighter).

So, I bought a 2020 CRV with 25k miles for me and gave my 2017 CRV to my 21-yr old DD. It was easy to adapt to my "new" CRV b/c it's basically the same as my old CRV! Just a couple minor changes. Having two CRVs is a plus, not a minus! My auto mechanic is a "Honda family" as well.

My DH has a Rav4 prime (plug in/gas). It's ok, but I always liked the interior of the Honda CRVs better.

Nothing wrong with owning two CRVs!

I bought a Mazda CX-50 for my college-age child recently. I looked at the CRV because, like others, we are a Honda family.

I think the CX-50 drives a little better, plus it was $4,000-$5,000 less expensive for similar features.

Mazda is better than it was, but Honda is more reliable.

Mazda and Honda are both drivers cars.

I've had both and prefer the Mazda-CX-5 with 4 kids.

Mazda cx5 is a drivers car and crv is an appliance? They are not that different in terms of driving enjoyment, it is just Mazda is successful with advertising their cars as drivers cars. Cx5 is not a Miata and crv as any other Honda handles pretty well. You won’t be able to tell a difference objectively. If your other crv is 2wd I’d get a 4wd. Other than that, I’d probably pick one that is easier to park and has a better visibility so your teenagers can use it when they get their license

We are in a similar boat. Just looking at it from the outside, I think we prefer the CRV for it's size advantage over Mazda. Mazda CX-5/50 look tiny in comparison!

I have a 2016 cx5 and love it. It drives like a sedan and we've had no problems with it.

Not sure why having two of the same car is embarrassing.

We looked at both these cars recently. I’ll preface my thoughts by saying we’re Honda people. We both liked the CRV. It was “familiar” to us even thought we’ve never owned one. Seemed well put together and we liked the interior. For the Mazda, we felt it looked and drove nice. For me, I wasn’t crazy about the interior even though all I’ve read was about how nice the interior is. For me, the interior looked like a real nice rental car and that is not what I am looking for.

They’re both quality cars. Get the one you like.
