You can literally walk on the football team with zero experience in this area. There is no such thing as training for it. Ask people where you live.

Just play rugby.

My son plays D1 football. He didn't start playing tackle until freshman year (we wouldn't allow him to play before that) and didn't start lifting heavy or working out with a position coach until halfway through his junior year.

Playing in college was his goal (not ours) and he worked really hard to get where he is today. He also continued to play multiple sports through high school and credits that to his success as a football player.

I'll also add that from what I understand it's all about footwork and "hands."

If your son has football experience and wants to play he will have no trouble being ready for high school football.

We are out of state and had a very different experience. Abs even if you make it onto the roster, you aren’t necessarily a starter. Most kids ride the bench

What advice would you give for a 7th grader who plays the local little league and trying to be ready for high school football.

any good trainers out there?

No trainers. Maybe a week long summer football camp if they’re interested

Just keep in shape.

Just stay for, try to get stronger so when he shows up freshman year he’s ready to do.

Interesting! We are out of state and have 100 on the freshman roster.

I don't think Justice HS has a JV or Freshman team for example.

Yes, at our large FCPS school, all sports are hard to make the team (including swimming, xc, track, lots of sports that are no cut in other schools) with the exception of football.

B/c most of DCUM does not believe in tackle football. What position does your kid want to play? Speed and agility are important for many positions, less so for some. Height and muscle are good, too.
