Oh yes, communism where everyone will live in a magical utopia with free housing, free healthcare, free education, free childcare, and free everything. That's great on paper. Until reality sets in and someone has to pay for all of the free stuff. No one wants to work hard and no one wants to invent things if the state will always take it. You have zero incentive to do anything other than the bare minimum if you will get the same exact food ration as your lazy neighbor who does half the work. And that's why communism always fails. They have to point guns at people to work agrarian jobs to make sure they can even have enough food.
We will all be oh so great again when 84 year olds are forced to work backbreaking jobs on the farms in 99 degree weather like the Khemer Rouge forced their people to do while facing down the barrel of a gun. Their reward was 400 calories of plain rice to eat per day. But hey, at least the rice was distributed evenly! Never mind the fact that 20% of the entire population was murdered under Pol Pot.
But it wasn't real communism! Lol.

So dumb. China is a one party communism government with huge market forces that derail a theoretical true communist regime.
Same with Russia. It was (is?) a one party system in which the STATE controlled the economy. Under communism, the means and production are owned by the community.
It would be super helpful if some of you took a world history class and bothered to learn definitions.

its taboo b/c it was supported by the western "liberal" powers so you couldn't have people engaging with it in depth b/c then they would realize this- Greece, Spain were fascist states and Greece was explicitly helped by the US & UK, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Suharto, the phillipines.. these are off the top of my head but the USA explicitly aided abetted and supported facsimile all over the global south so couldn't have fascism studied as a known system b/c then citizens would realize what the government was encouraging. if you don't know what something is- how can you recognize it??

I don't think anyone wants to be fascist, it is more of a response to a society collapsing or taking several steps backwards sort of when colonialism/imperialism collapsed in Europe and they could no longer support the monarchies. Maybe some people dream of fascism with their A for anarchy patches sewn on their punk clothing, but other than that.

The Khmer Rouge was Communist inspired but deviated heavily from the core premises in its extreme brutalism.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a supporter of either ideology and I think that the proof is in history that both are dangerous.
If you look at both fascist governments and communist governments in history, both have committed genocides. Most notably, communists perpetrated the Cambodian Genocide (7.1 million), the USSR’s various genocides (debated, but 5-10 million, potentially up to 20 million over the course of the USSR). The fascist example of Nazi Germany is the most famous (11 million). Both killed a ton of people.
Yet growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s, it was ok to wear a hammer and scythe t shirt. DC has a Marx Cafe, but can you imagine a fascist themed bar? Reddit has a r/communism community with 260k members for communism enthusiasts, yet no fascist related communities.
Clearly one is more taboo than the other.
Why?
