My understanding is it will be a targeted offer and not everyone will be eligible (they will tell everyone yes/no). I don't know what criteria they will use other than perhaps whether you manage enough people.

16s are not managers. They are technical experts (theoretically).

When the dust settles, they will determine whether those types of groups should be collapsed into another or eliminated. The managers (and staff) will get moved around to wherever there is a need for a manager and/or more staff.


I’m confused. What “types of groups”?

The “dust” needs to “settle” pretty soon. Not sure what the point is of drawing this process out for months and months and exacerbating uncertainty. It’s not rocket science — execute and move on.

Even opm said to wrap up all the restructuring and cuts by end of Sept. (ie, implement a “positive vision” of normalcy for moving forward).

I don’t think it matters how many people are being supervised. They just want to reduce the number of supervisors. So it really can be anyone and they will reorganize/merge branches, groups, etc. to get the right ratios.

I don’t think they can exceed the $50k but perhaps they can sweeten the deal and do a limited fork situation where they go on admin leave for a while before resigning. It won’t be as long as the original fork but they can still do a few months without separate opm approval.


I was thinking of one of the branches in my division that has, for example, a 17 supervising two 15s and the 15s dont supervisor anyone. I think groups like that will definitely be targeted. They are also offering voluntary demotions I guess for people that dont want to be managers. If they really want people to exit eb masse they should do one or two TW days for BU members, all the managers would run for the hills.

Why target SOs and ADs, who tend to be high-performing and knowledgeable?
