I am the OP. Yes, if your kid's SAT score is high and they do very well in any Oxford subject tests that may be required. My own DD missed the cut off grade in the subject test by 10 pts. and was told she wouldn't then proceed to interview as a result. Everything else was aligned. No interview = no offers.

I think it's unlikely. The official SAT minimum in the in 1400s, but I it's my intuition that the unofficial minimum is likely 1550-ish.

The subject exams are a very important cull for all applicants. Kids who don't score at the very top end of those -- for US students, above 70 at least, I'd guess -- are unlikely to be asked to interview. Then the interview is main selection mechanism. I don't get the sense that UK tutors are at all impressed with US AP exam scores.

In our experience - it's not just the stats but the interview process. Our DC applied Oxford PPE and the level of specific questions from each of the three disciplines were very high (as UK system does deeper dive into specialty areas with A-levels than US highschools do)

No. Oxford requires AP tests, with a score of 5, to enroll.

You *may* be interviewed / an offer in January without APs in hand (though I haven't heard of that). However, offers are given conditional on AP score achievement and the scores must be transmitted directly from the College Board.

No. Take AP exams on your own then apply.

Your kid can always go to St Andrews. They take any full pay kid from the USA with a pulse.

However, it is true that successful Oxbridge applicants do not HAVE to have strong ECs, and that high stats kids with few ECs have a better shot at Oxford than HYPMS.

I am sharing what I have seen in our school. Can a high stats excellent EC kid choose Oxybridge? Sure.

However, it is true that successful Oxbridge applicants do not HAVE to have strong ECs, and that high stats kids with few ECs have a better shot at Oxford than HYPMS.

Oxybridge takes really high stats kids 1550+ (more often 1580+) and all 5 scores of APs. But they typically don’t have strong ECs.

So I know what their new entry minimums are, and how they want AP's taken over 2 yrs and SAT scores to be higher from the start, not as a result of multiple sittings etc. I know about the subject entrance exams and I know about the interviews.

What I really would like to know, very specifically if any of your kids are attending Oxford this year (or recently)is

What was their actual SAT score. How many AP's did they get as 5's
