The fact that so many undergrads have an expectation to make $100K is much more concerning than what field a particular student should pursue. Truly highlights how out of touch people are.

The good committed software engineers are fully employed and making 100k+ right out of college. The ones that have no interest and got the degree to make money are suffering

Yes. I've been a nurse for 20 years and have a job that requires a master's degree and make $120k (the most I've ever made).

Seriously. I know she doesn't want nursing but you'll never make $100k out of school as a nurse either. More like $70k.

Finance. At some point she will simply manage her own money and has no need to work for anyone.

I would give her some aspirations in a career besides a salary floor. She sounds entitled.

100k right out of undergrad is really pushing it, and not as common as you think. Don’t believe social media. Also it sometimes comes with some sacrifices to happiness that can’t be measured easily: frequent business travel that is not glamorous, long hours, intense pressure, and no time for self care.

Commercial property, in asset management. Work for one of the biggies...ProLogis, CB, Cushman. Your pick of area of country. They can't find enough qualified applicants. I can't believe the number of idiots who apply to something like Hertz rental car for a job instead of real careers...

My daughter is not interested in nursing or healthcare which is a stable descent paying career to have a middle class life .

She wants to be a software engineer or a data scientist but is tech oversaturated now ? Also I have family members working in tech who have been laid off , and it took them months to find a job . Also outside of FAANG tech isn't as lucrative .
