I think its because we are all really skilled in taking flattering photos and think we actually look like that.

I definitely look slightly younger than my age, thanks 100% to genetics. But we are talking 5 years. No one is mistaking me for someone in their 20s.

I've found that there are people in their laye 50s/60s/70s who can pull off the "I look 10 years younger" statement. But a 40 year old or younger? Few and far between.

💯 agree OP and I’m laughing at the people immediately claiming you’re wrong. Yes, even if you’re Asian, you look your age. White women wrinkle, Asian and Brown women sag and have hyperpigmentation.

I’m 45 and I have had my upper eyelids done, I Botox, I stay at a size 4, I use prescription skincare… I do ALL the things, and I’m mixed race but I’m not delusional and none of those things mean I look 35.

And it’s not just women, the amount of male friends I have who post selfies of their 40-60 year old selves desperately fishing for compliments is pathetic.

I don’t mind looking my age! I’m turning 49, have two teens, two houses, two pets and a husband. It took a long time to acquire this life, and I’m grateful to be healthy. I don’t really care about my neck, or my age spots or my gray highlights. I play tennis, stay active and have a healthy group of friends. I don’t envy the 30 and 40 year olds, and wouldn’t want to have to go through the day care schlepping, not sleeping through the night years.

People fixate too much on looking young. I agree that most people look their age, but people can look attractive at any age. I'd rather look 45 and look good than look like a homely 35.

Black and Asian women do look younger than their age generally speaking. White women look their age.

Probably around 15% can pass for 5-10 younger.
Maybe 10% for 10 years or younger.
Less than 1% for 15-20 years younger, but they do exist. Men more than women obviously.

I don't know. Especially with brown and black people I know -- I'm sometimes off by decades.

I worked with a guy who frequently commented on how young he looked. It was so cringey because he absolutely looked his age. Men participate in this weird fishing-for-compliments behavior, too.

Even more obnoxious is when a TikTok video posts about how young someone looks, and then random commenters start posting pictures of themselves and how young they look. Literally, no one asked them, and they always look their age or older. Are people really this attention-seeking and needy?

The skin changes once you pass 40 y/o. You may still look good but no one will think you look 10 years younger.

+1. Most women think they look 15 years younger and 25 lbs lighter. Truth really hurts.
