All of the cheaters I have known in my life were "nerdy and calm intellectuals."
Everyone has a mask, but some people have a mask that truly hides what they are.
It is SO easy to cheat right now. You could get on reddit, give your general location and what you are looking for, and find a partner in no time. You could use telegram or whatever app to communicate and your spouse would never know. If you are determined, you could hide it indefinitely. There is no way to know how many people have cheated.
Sigh. No. I know there's this rhetoric on DCUM that men cheat if given the opportunity. But honestly, I don't buy it. What you describe isn't actually easy when you have a family life and set hours. And there's always a risk of STDs. It's just not worth it.
I'm not giving you a moral rebuttal here. I'm just saying - to most people, cheating is a hassle.

You say that like any married man who is desirable to women has easy options - but some don't put themselves in the situations where options present themselves. For every guy on a business trip hitting the hotel bar there's another guy who has gone back to his room to watch a movie.

Why go to a hooker or AMP when you can just watch some p0rn? I think for many men who cheat, it's for the thrill of being desired by someone. They're not going to get that from a professional.

My general opinion is that men are as faithful as their options. If you are married to an attractive, successful man who is also charismatic, he's going to cheat eventually. Even if he says no 95% of the time.

It's said around 95% of people "cheat" at least once in their life, either physically, or emotionally. Much of that is when they are under 25.
