I think Penn is the hardest and Duke is close. Northwestern is an easier admit (but still hard!)

Both of these are lottery schools, and at either there is a small chance of admission. I don't think there's much of a strategic play, unless his 'great ECs' would be particularly appreciated at one school rather than the other -- but then, I suppose, he'd have a hook.

These two schools have very different vibes. Have your son put his chips on the one he likes best.

Penn's EDvacceptance rate is a little higher than Duke's.

Penn also accepts more kids. Penn accepted about 1270 kids for ED and Duke 840. So there are more slots at Penn than Duke.

My son need to decide where to Ed. He is public policy, political science, govt, economics. No legacy nor any other hooks.
Great ECs, 3.97 uw gpa. Where shud be for his major and to maximize his chances
