How could you look at that footage of him insisting there was a gunman in his apartment when it was clearly established that there wasn’t and not recognize the possibility of psychosis, which is a medical emergency?

Psychosis is a psychiatric emergency, not a medical emergency. The suspect was in custody. A reasonable person would believe a handcuffed suspect locked in the back of a police vehicle was incapable of inflicting grave bodily injury to themselves or others. The jail would have taken the standard precautions if the suspect demonstrated suicidal ideation.

You can't withhold medical care like that. They broke protocol and it cost a man his life.

You can't be serious. They "hurt" him by not taking a man who was hallucinating, delusional and panicking to the hospital when he asked to go a few times. This was not a drunk in public situation this was a mental episode that needed medical attention. He could still be alive today with medical intervention.

DP, but normally a person freaking out doesn't just die. Something else was going on that likely wasn't disclosed. I'm guessing a massive overdose.

Lots of legit medical emergencies can present in this manner - eg, diabetic ketoacidosis.

These cops laughed it off and played candy crush while a man was dying in their police cruiser. Poorly trained morons who should not be Big Government agents who get to wield the the power of life and death. They are not responsible enough for this job and should be separated from the PD before they kill more civilians through neglect and laziness.

The guy was loud for hours he's quiet and the police are doing nothing and it still takes them 25-40 minutes to realize he had already died!

The family needs to sue the city into bankruptcy!

All that doesn't matter, what matters is they didn't take him to the hospital! Even when he asked. The way he was acting should have resulted in a trip to the hospital. Especially if they were thinking drug overdose like you are. They didn't follow protocol. This should be national news! This AND the City of Alexandria housing CEO living free in the county housing. This city is a total mess!

I wish I had more words for this senseless death. This man was clearly having a mental health episode and needed to be taken to the hospital not the police station. In the cop car he asked to go to the hospital many times. They took him to the station were he died alone in a cop car in the sally port while police stood outside the car playing on their phones. This was released on friday on a long holiday weekend.

Why wasn't this man taken to the hospital?
