The waterfront is nice - yes it's across the road from the camp but it's a very small quiet country road, not many cars are going past. The lake is plenty big enough for their activities - swimming, kayaking etc., - and they have the whole thing, there are no other camps or residences using the lake.

Does it have to be in NE? Camp Thunderbird in MN is great, kids go from all over the country but a lot are from the Midwest, which cuts down on the fancy factor

Did you have to sign up early for this camp? Are you in DC? Did you fly her there and back?

Re Netimus - my daughter attended for 2 weeks last summer. I was a little taken aback at first by how 'rustic' and simple it is, compared to other camps my kid's friends went to that had all the bells and whistles, but she loved it and is going back for longer next summer. There seems to be a great community there - I like how girls of all ages seem to mix. It doesn't seem snobby or pretentious at all, quite the opposite. My daughter was a first-time sleepaway camper at 11yo and didn't know anyone going in, but made some great friends in just 2 weeks. Plus she got an injury that required a trip to the ER and stitches while she was there (not the camp's fault) and we were happy with how that was all handled.

Bumping this. Any recommendations for camps in New England that are all girls, run more than 2 weeks (so not most Y camps) but aren't the type where all the kids have personalized bedding and the like? In other words, not snobby, not cliquey. They're mostly pretty expensive so it can be hard to tell a camp's vibe by price alone.

We just did this search last year for this summer and ended up at YMCA Camp Mohawk for 2 weeks which was a huge success, but are considering a slightly longer program for next summer so I'm still exploring options. One thing that has been helpful for me is following contenders on social media (and checking out their posts from during the summer sessions). Social media is obviously hugely curated, but I've found myself drawn to the camps that have a more limited social media presence bc I don't want my kids to be a marketing tool all summer. So that's one angle for my search.

I've heard wonderful things about Farwell and have Netimus on my short list. Also Oneka, and Fleur de Lis. Considering a few options in Maine as well but the options are overwhelming.

I was put off by Jean d'Arc's aggressive self-promotion here and elsewhere last summer so while that camp looks great it's no longer on my list.

I’m looking into all girls sleep away camps in NE and would like more insight into what these camps are really like. Does anyone know of a website or place with camp reviews?

On a side note: does anyone have any reviews for Brown Ledge, Camp Farwell, Wavus, Camp Netimus?
Other ones we should be looking at?
