how? buying through their travel portal? or transferring points to airlines? or upgrades somehow?
I have this card and can't figure out the best use besides the 1.5% cash back

Take one of the many online courses for free. Like 10x Travel (https://10xtravel.com/free-tools/). Or use a service like Roame. They will, for a fee, do the legwork. https://roame.travel/

It isn’t a great card for everyday purchases. You could see if the store has any online portal bonuses (cash back monitor is a good resource) but chances are slim.

Why did you get this card? You’d be better off with a Chase Sapphire card and a Freedom Unlimited card. Put the purchase on the FU card and get 1.5x points instead 1x. Coupled with a Sapphire card you can then transfer those points to United.

I’d disagree, as someone who takes multiple free trips every year just by accruing points and miles through credit card spending I’m doing anyway. Seriously I probably get $20k-$25k worth of travel a year for free. May as well take advantage of the opportunity.

It’s not free though. You have to figure out the retail cost of that travel minus the cash back you would have gotten from a different card. Maybe it’s still a good deal but it’s not free.

Always some idiot that shows up in these threads trying to tell you their 2% cash back card is better because they’re too lazy or stupid to find a decent redemption.

Chase Sapphire or Amex Platinum and, if you’re buying the furniture online, see if there’s a percentage back through Rakuten.

Open a different card like Chase Sapphire to get a sign on mileage bonus and use that to buy the furniture.

I have to buy about $6,000 worth of furniture this month. I'm new to the mileage game. Is there anything special I can do with my Chase Explorer card to get more miles? I'm not yet sure where I'll be buying the furniture.
