All American made solid wood from the 1950s. I thought the prices were reasonable, even with shipping from Missouri, and the pieces are in good shape and classic in style.

I originally saw some of these items on the first dibs website, but prefer to buy directly from the seller.

Look for the kind of thrift shops that old rich ladies like to donate at.

Buy brown wood furniture and refinish it.

Look at what people put out for trash, some real wood (not particle junk) can be refinished and are quite valuable. Found a nice late 1800s table once sitting out for trash, took it, stripped the paint gunk off it, and was hand carved/inlayed wood designs. Refinished it and sold it for $4100.

We bought solid wood furniture off Craigslist, but we had to wait...and wait...and then move very quickly.

Make a commitment to hit a lot of estate sales for a month or two.

Restore or Community Forklift.

I think you just have to keep an eye out.

The thing about solid wood furniture is that it’s really expensive to move it and store it. Anyone reselling it is already in it for $$$. So depending on your budget, you will have to be quick and flexible to find something nearby, probably at someone’s house, and pick it up. People can be delulu about pricing so just make quick offers, explain when you can pick up and that you will have a truck and a helper (if you can), and cash.
