The two most common paths I see are taking Honors English 11 in summer, then Honors English 12/AP Lang or doubling up Honors English 12 with either 11 or AP Lang. Another option is to use dual enrollment and take ENGL 101 in fall and ENGL 102 in spring.

At least as of 2020, “MSDE has identified exams that would allow students to earn a substitute credit in English 12 in order to accelerate the student’s graduation from high school.
In accordance with COMAR 13A.03.02.04.I.(2), “(2) A student who would be eligible to graduate but for obtaining credit in English 12 may obtain that credit by taking a State-approved examination and achieving a passing score as defined by the Maryland State Department of Education.”
At the time, that was spelled out as:
The minimum scores for the 3 assessments required for this option are:
• 650 on the English portion of the SAT;
600 on the sat2 literature test
• 5 on each of the three (3) dimensions of the SAT Essay (reading, analysis, and writing).
Clearly out of date now though as not all these testing options exist anymore.
