Assuming that the lottery is truly a real one and not weighted towards students with a certain profile, the odds of getting in are minuscule due to few seats.

That said, in our school, one kid got offered a seat, but they declined it because the program is essentially an enriched ELA class and a mandated media elective which takes up an elective choice. They preferred to be with their friends in the home cluster vs a rougher environment.

Op here. We are zoned to Lakeland Park middle School. So I assume that these 2 magnet MS program is a lot better than our home middle school , right?

Both middle schools do not seem to be in good school rating, but they both have magnet middle school problems. Martin Luther King is for humanities magnet, and Roberto Clemente is for stem/science magnet. Any feedback ( pro & con) if your children was or are in their magnet programs? Is one geared for mostly girls or boys? I understand it is lottery based, but I want to understand if it is something that I should hopeful for my kid to get in if possible.
