Toss them when he’s not around. I do this all the time and we have never ever needed some random cord he was saving.

I’d keep them. I regret getting rid of so many when my DH died.

With the constantly changing technology and no standardized recepticles for many gadgets, it certainly is a good idea to keep and even have backups of older style attachments.

For me, having one box like this doesn’t trouble me. But realizing I lost the cord to my kid’s piano style keyboard or whatever gadget..and now I get to spend $25 on Amazon for a specialized cord that might not work…..is much more annoying

I have a mystery bag from my grandpa's estate. It may or may not have a cable to a VHS to DVD ripping machine that I inherited. Untouched for 8 years so far.

I’ take 15 minutes bites to check that all the major electronics that your family regularly use have whatever cords they need to work. If you want to take it a step further, think about the minor appliances that you use a few times a year that also need cords (drills, photo printer, etc) and make sure they have cords too. Everything else… throw away.

If you find you really need something in the future, post a note to your neighborhood group and I guarantee you that you will absolutely make some dad’s day when he is able to come up with whatever random cord you need.

Keep them. How much space could they possibly take up? A small box? Big whoop.

I toss them. Once I realized I was missing a cable for our old slr camera and had to buy a new one for $15. Otherwise, no issues.

We are organizing/purging ahead of a move. We have SO MANY random cords and cables that I can’t pair with any one thing. My DH insists we need to keep them because they obviously go with something, and older cords/cables are hard to find/expensive. I guarantee every one of these cords has been in the storage bin I found them in since at least 2020, if not before that. If we haven’t needed them in almost six years, why do we need to move them to our new place?

What would you do?
