Subject: If your grandparents are dead, how often do you see your first cousins?
I'm not sure what the correlation is between grandparents and cousins. Once I moved across the country from my cousins I basically have seen them twice. Maybe once? Oh, once at a wedding and once at a funeral.

I have five first cousins. I see of them every two years or so. I only knew one of my grandparents who only had the one child, my parent (the cousins are on the other side of the family). The other three died well before I was born so their absence makes no difference to my relationship with my cousins.

I stopped seeing most of my cousins after my parents died, not grandparents.
One set died before either my mom or her brother had graduated from hs. My whole life has been after their deaths.

There’s only 3 grandkids in total across both sides of the family. I see each of them whenever life takes me to their cities—once every 8-10 years, maybe.

10 of us first cousins, we see each other at weddings, funerals and one big holiday per year. We have a family list serv that is fairly active, and some of our kids have now joined. Some of my first cousins just visited our son at college in Indiana because they were visiting a sibling nearby, and I didn't know it until they started sharing pictures. This was fine with me, because they have their own relationship and I live that.
Second cousins, some I never see, and a handful I see at the weddings, funerals and one big holiday event per year.

On my mother’s side, never. Abusers, addicts, criminals, yikes.
On my father’s side several times per year. Just saw my favorite cousin this weekend.

It is very rare. Some I haven't seen in 20+ years. I am on the younger side of my grandparents grandchildren, so I was never close to my cousins. Several had children before I graduated from high school.
