California is the most beautiful state in the country. You clearly have a political agenda.

I figure they will be quenched by the rivers of excrement from the planes, per the discussion in the travel section.

I think it’s good to consider what kinds of natural disasters might happen at any given school and ask about the school responds and keeps its students safe, and then talk to your kid to make sure they know what to do, but I wouldn’t avoid a school because of a particular type of potential disaster. Pretty much every school has the potential to face something.

DC could see the fire from dorm at the 5C’s in the first weeks of school last year. It’s not any different to think about this then to consider hurricanes at Tulane.

OP, you may want to home school your daughter to ensure that she is safe from all disasters, both natural and man made. Perhaps you can found a branch of survivalist college in your basement? Thoughts and prayers for your kid.

Yeah fire risk is the last thing I’m worried about. Way to stifle your kid.

Hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, earthquakes, it's always something.

These are not risks that would concern me at all, fire included.

I would never send my kid to California because it’s a shithole.

Seems like the future with climate change is affecting all of us on a regular basis. DD was thinking of attending a school in Arizona but we told her no way.

That's stupid--the fires aren't happening in the urban areas where the universities are located. Unless you're talking about NAU, but I don't think anyone on DCUM would have it on their list.
