You are correct, but I may still sleep in my car, to save money on rental apartment (or a room). I hope it will be temporary. But who know if I am able to choose a location.

I am 100% sure that you are wrong. For example, we used to have super commuters that lived out in rest of the US that would get DC pay and report to the office 2x per week. What you are thinking about is how locality pay is set for fully remote workers because in that case their duty station is their house.

As far as taxes, it depends whether the state in which you are working has a reciprocity agreement. For example, if you were worked in NY and lived here you would pay NY taxes and get an offset against your VA income taxes for the NY taxes.

You are so right. It’s absolutely terrible people this way. I don’t know how you are doing this.

People move for jobs all the time; if you can’t find a replacement that is your best play. No one is hiring.

5 days on office, I suck it up, more than 2 hours commute time each day.

Now I really need to make a decision if I will move or not. It is not easy to find another fed job right now, nor do I want to find a job in private sector (not easy either), given that I have 17 years of fed service so far, not qualified for VERA. I am trying to stay a few years to get my pension and retiree health benefit.

I am tired of this administration. So many employees' career had been (DRP) or will be(relocation) screwed up by this administration.
