That’s like asking a lottery winner if they’re glad they bought the ticket. They’ll say yes but that doesn’t mean it was a good financial decision. Unless there’s a known issue with the vehicle, extended warranties are money makers for the issuer

Third party warranty providers will definitely hound you for a month or two after you purchase a used car even if the original warranty expired.

I got a 10 year, 100k bumper to bumper on my hybrid truck. Bought it about a year after purchasing new. I could have gotten it anytime before the original warranty expired. It’s not aftermarket, but offered by the manufacturer. Was 2k and the truck was 60k. I wouldn’t get a third party extended warranty, though. My brother in law got an extended warranty for his Honda minivan and the transmission crapped out at 50k; it ended up saving him quite a lot of money. Of course they wouldn’t offer these if they lost money on them, so it comes down to whether you’re comfortable with possibly spending money on something that never gets used.

Jeep doesn't offer lifetime anymore which sucks but we bought the 8 year since they have known issues. Unfortuantely the paint issues are the big issue we've had and its not covered.

No I change out the car before warranty is over. Probably a good idea on a BMW if you plan to keep it though.

No, you can buy extended warranty from the manufacturer anytime before your original warranty expires. None of the cars I owned could benefit from such a warranty as none of them had any issues before 100k miles/10 years but all of these were Japanese cars Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, Mazdas, Subarus.

I bought lifetime warranties twice - once on a Chrysler minivan and once on a Jeep. Both more than paid for themselves. We keep our vehicles until they die.

We did the same with an x3. Wife was insistent. Three years and it was a lot of money. But repairs are so expensive that if there is one electrical problem, it will pay for itself.
