This man asked for the officers’ names and badge numbers and filmed them. He didn’t lay a finger on them or throw anything at them or spit on them or use (or even display!) any sort of weapon. He didn’t verbally threaten violence. He didn’t get loud or verbally aggressive until they placed him under arrest for dubious reasons.

Our president pardoned people who erected gallows and threatened to kill our vice president, deployed bear spray on police officers, engaged in hand-to-hand combat with police officers, struck the officers with weapons, smashed windows in our Capital building to force entry, and tried to hunt down members of Congress in order to stop our legislative branch from carrying out their constitutionally required duties. Now that same president is sending unidentified, masked law enforcement officers out to patrol the streets, and they’re intimidating and arresting citizens for asking questions and having cameras rolling? Extremely concerning development if you aren’t part of Trump’s cult.

It is important for law enforcement to understand that "just following orders" is not an effective defense.

This is 100% why DC is unable to hire police. This guy could have filmed from a reasonable distance. But, he intended to become part of the story and boy did he succeed. The police have a dangerous job to do and are entitled to some space for their safety.

I think that the NG is stuck following fascist orders for now. I am sort of glad that they are there because at some point they might have to save us from the Gestapo.
