I agree that Kauai (Poipu Beach), Maui, or Big Island (Hapuna Beach) are better for beaches. Check out the Westin Hapuna Beach.

If all you want is swimming and beach then stay in Hanalei at the One Hotel.

You might like Ko Olina. I stayed at the Marriot there for work once and they have these created lagoon type things with large beaches.

You're going to be disappointed if you stay in Waikiki. Beach erosion there and crowds. The sand and beaches are rocky and tiny in Waikiki. I have been to Hawaii 15 plus times in my life and it's my favorite place on earth. Laying on the beach and playing in the ocean is my favorite. I always feel bad for the tourists who do Oahu and only stay in Waikiki and think that's all Oahu has to offer. Does it have to be Oahu? You would find better options on other islands.

Kahala has captive Atlantic bottlenose dolphins if that matters to OP.
In summer Turtle Bay is is ok but far from Honolulu.
Outrigger is value. Hyatt Regency is across street from beach but imo that stretch of beach is less crazy.

I’d do the outrigger the Waikiki one not the reef

It’s not renovated but the location is great it has pool and beech

The Hilton on the beach is a zoo and nickels and dimes you

I’m planning a last-minute trip to Hawaii for me and teen DD, and we’ve settled on going to Oahu. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel with a beautiful beachfront?

Some of the hotels I’m seeing online seem like they have a tiny strip of sand in front of the hotel, and I’m imagining those small spaces get super crowded. Part of my dream is to lounge and relax on the beach.

I’m not DCUM rich, so no Four Seasons or anything!
