So far, her impressions are that the History teacher is grumpy, and that the English teacher is nice. Both are apparently wordy. She is a child of few words, so that part definitely does not appeal to her.
????Trying to figure out how to teach history and English without a lot of words.

I know that reputationally, it is more difficult than the courses taught separately, but DC says that her friends with separate classes have already done copious amounts of note taking and reading, and they have barely got started.

Reading is fundamental.
I was not the poster that complained about lack of work on the first/second day. In fact, I responded to say that my daughter had plenty of work.
If you read what I posted, I'm concerned that there is not a lot of work assigned yet, although other classes that are not the combined world civ courses are apparently ploughing through. My daughter specifically told her counselor that she did not want this class (because of teacher reputation), and now doesn't want to switch out because she's worried that after missing a week of the other classes, she would be seriously behind and there won't be a way to catch up.
Seriously behind and can't catch up after less than a week? Get real.
