That’s a weird take. Why do you think every kid is going to want to go to UVA? It’s a great school, but it’s not going to be the right school for everyone.

DP. Stop with this. I’m the alum from a few posts up and I totally understand why some fully qualified kids aren’t interested.

UVA has a certain snobby reputation in Virginia, so if you aren't a certain type of person you might not be interested. I was never interested and only focused on W&M.

based on the common data set they dont grant admission to every resident in VA therefore if you don't have the grades and rigor its a waste of an ED.

I don’t know, it’s a good question. If we lived there my kids would pick either uva or vt. But we chose to live in Maryland for some unknown reason.

Adding that both parents are alums. It’s a fine place, but it’s not the end-all, be-all for every kid.

Because it is still expensive for many and they need to know if they can get aid or merit from other schools before committing.

It's such a prestigious school and a great, affordable education IF you can get in in-state. Why wouldn't every VA res shoot their shot ED unless they're hell bent on spending more money?
