Actually, the white concrete will *reflect* the light. While this would be good for a building (reflection would keep a building cool), this would be terrible for a seating area — anybody sitting under an umbrella would get light from the reflection and potentially burned in the summer.

concrete absorbs heat more than the grass. I have a largish flagstone concrete patio. It gets pretty hot there in the summer, so we usually put up all the umbrellas. But, we also have a large grassy area right next to it.

It's nice in the cooler, but sunny days, though.

I kind of like it. she probably likes it as it is hard to walk in grass in heels, and walking in heels is her one area of excellence.

I did see that. Cringe. But, I knew their tastes in interior design ran to ostentatiousness with all that gold, but I thought at least maybe for the outside their tastes would be better since Trump's into golf courses and manicured lawns. Obviously, I was wrong.

Yep. This will be one of the easiest things to repair, aside from ripping out all that tacky gold from the oval office.

Yes. It looks like the outside of a "classy" on campus fast food restaurant.

You know that area is going to be miserable 9 months out of the year in DC.
