I went to Guapo's for the first time in years and it was so much worse than I remember. I paid almost $50 for an order of steak fajitas (they have the gall to charge "market price" for fricking fajitas!) and I got probably 6 ounces of tough, gristly meat, obviously mass-produced tortillas, and literally a tablespoon of guac. They don't even give you a grilled jalapeno anymore. In 2002 you got a full pound of good skirt steak, fresh tortillas made in the restaurant, and an ice cream scoop of guac.
Guapo's likes to give on old rank sour cream.

Don't remind me of DC and restaurants. I worked for 4 restaurants that didn't pay me their part and/or the minimum. All mom-and-pop restaurants admired by community.

I also miss - I RICCHI for a super fancy meal. I miss the White Tiger for bangin' Indian and that gaudy Italian place on NY Avenue -- forget the name but it was a total scene.
Oh and let's not forget MIXTEC of Adams Morgan prime for a late-night drunken meal and...god...who could ever forget CHIEF IKE'S Mambo Room?

I used to load up on carby pizzas at Generous George's.
I'd wolf down pasta at Ecco in Old Town - god, the fettucine was delicious.
Austin Grill for throwing back margaritas. Guapos too.
Not to mention the delicious, sumptuous takeaway Italian at Listrani's or La Piazza Old Town.
