It can replace Honors English 10 now.

Its new this year at our school as they didn't offer it last year.

Maybe, but it's better than MCPS "Honors" English 10.

Some MCPS high schools are offering AP Seminar as a higher level English 10 option and others offer it as an elective, in which case it must be taken while the student is also taking English. This is an unfortunate inequity in MCPS at the current time. That said, AP Seminar is an excellent pre-cursor to AP Language and Composition, the two courses my son claimed best prepared him for college level writing and college level presentations (individual and group). Both are FANTASTIC! He also took AP Research, which requires students to conduct a year long research project, to write a lengthy paper about it, and present it. Also an excellent course.

Confirm with your school which version of AP Seminar they offer. There is a version that can replace English 10.

My DS is signed up for Honors 10 English but heard that the AP Seminar teacher at his school is great. Now we are waffling about possibly switching to AP Seminar.

Any thoughts/suggesions/advice appreciated!
