What did the kids get for $60 each?

I would say, hey, you owe me $150 for the two extra kid dinners. You can venmo me.

Or hand her your bill and say, I will venmo you $75 for my kids' meal.

It's not too late to do this btw. Your friend is either 1) clueless and didn't realize how expensive the kids' meals were or 2) purposely cheap and happy to have you pay $200 more. Either way, this friend should make it right so just ask for payment. Venmo makes this so easy now.

You let the waiter know those belong on her check and update it in the moment

Nothing you can do about it now, but next time (if there is one) ask for a separate check right up front and identify who is on your check.

I would have pointed out the error instead of posting here.

In that exact moment, you say, "Oh, they put three kids on my tab. I'm going to tip, X and you can tip Y so we don't inconvenience the waiter by having him redo it."

*Very Important‼️
Next time let the waitperson know ahead of ordering that you would like separate bills + be specific because it can be confusing afterward.

But I digress……
I would have probably specified to the waiter that I only was paying for one child vs. three, but that is due to the fact that I couldn’t afford the extra $200 you mentioned.
However if I COULD afford to do so - - I would have just paid for my friend’s two kids then casually mention that she can pay for mine the next time.

My answer may not be the most popular one on here, but truthfully this is how I would have handled things.

You say no to an extravagant restaurant that you can’t afford.

You put cash down and tell the waiter of the mistake.

Very rude.. I might have handed her the higher bill since she had 2/3 kids

I would have told the waiter to redo it. Your friend is insanely rude. Also who has $60 kid meals????
In my circle we would have split it evenly.

You should have said nah and pushed backs at that time. Once you paid you paid. Grow a pair next time

I went out to an extravagant (at least for me!) dinner with a friend, my 1 kid and her 2 kids. The kids behaved beautifully and the dinner was a great success. The bill came ($500!) and I said to my friend, let’s just split it. The kids had ordered the exact same things ($60 per kid) and the adult tabs were similar. My friend said no and asked the waiter to split the bill by what we ordered.

Waiter must’ve thought all 3 kids were mine and came back with the kids meals on my bill, so now my “half” of the bill is practically $200 more than my friend. I said something to my friend (waiter wasn’t there) and friend was basically like “oh well, no biggie, it’s kids meals”). I am/was pi$$ed! But paid and did not make a deal of it.

What would you have done/how should I have handled.
