I honestly don't care enough about others' majors to put forth the effort.

Nobody has said anything bad that I can remember. The only time I even know that someone is looking for a job, needs more work or is underpaid, is artist, a writer, or a creative type.
Maybe the mathematicians wouldn't say that they are out of work. I don't know.

I was a history major, and no one has ever said anything rude like that to my face. I've seen that nonsense online and just assume that the individual expressing it is a troll or just doesn't know any better.

CNN and NBC have pieces this weekend about how the high numbers of young men with CS and Finance degrees are having trouble finding jobs while women in other areas (esp health-related majors) are doing well.

Unfortunately, they’re verging close to “women are stealing jobs” as opposed to talking about the lack of variety in majors among the men.

My experience is that the same person who is educated, wealthy and well spoken is quite congratulatory of someone studying history at Harvard, but has no problem telling the history major at Salisbury "have fun working at Starbucks".

It’s a luxury to be able to study whatever you are passionate about for learnings sake without having to care about employment outcomes.

On the other hand, those who are accepting of humanities majors tent to be more educated, wealthy, and well spoken.
