Dual enrollment. Taking classes at GW or another local college.

Older kid took 5.5 (needed 4.5). Younger taking 4 + DE (needs 3).

I'm quite sure DC didn't take any extra classes.
DC was at school few hours a day if any, missed 30 days last year, got 3.8 GPA, and 30 credits transferred to college.

Depends on how much you want to push your kid. Plenty of kids took only 4 classes…mine took 6 but only technically needed two and is going to a top 20 college (they were 5 AP classes).

I thought I heard they were making kids take 8 classes regardless unless you had an internship or you were taking DE classes (which take time to get to the college so they don’t make you take a full schedule).

Thanks. That's good to know. DC would have taken 11 AP classes by the end of junior year along with a few DE classes. They have to do an internship as part of their academy anyway, so might end up with a lighter schedule.
